WE ARE REWIND’S NEW MODERN RETRO CASSETTE PLAYERS

We Are Rewind modernizes retro cassette players with aluminum design and by allowing listeners to record their own mixtapes and connect to their wireless headphones. These modern cassette players were once a project back in 2020, but since then, the collection has grown, adding a new black and yellow color variant sharing the same name as the new Amy Winehouse-related movie, Back to Black (2024). This new color now joins the ensemble, named with monikers including Serge (orange), Kurt (blue), and Keith (gray).

BUTTONS FOR TACTILE FEEL AND A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY

These modern cassette players by We Are Rewind still feature the fast forward and rewind buttons of their retro siblings, adding a tactile feel in the world of sensor and touch technology. On the other side, the headphone output falls in line with the manual volume control and the audio input for creating personal mixtapes. Blank tapes are back too, which listeners can use to record their own music. Beyond these, the modern feel begins, starting with batteries being replaced with a rechargeable lithium battery, offering up to 12 hours of consecutive listening.

BLUETOOTH 5.1 FOR WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

We Are Rewind also adds Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, allowing listeners to connect the modern cassette player to their wireless headphones or speakers in seconds. ‘It may not sound like much, but it’s a world first,’ the design team adds. Another update from the last model, put up as a campaign, comes through the audio quality. We Are Rewind worked with sound engineers to optimize the mechanism and setups of these modern cassette players and generate audio quality used in the present time.

Design-wise, these modern cassette players ditch the use of plastic, trading the material for an aluminum casing. It emits coolness and warmth, depending on the temperature surrounding the listeners, and, as the design team says, can add a real sense of quality with its subtle glint. As of publishing the story, We Are Rewind also offers their own wireless headphones, styled retro too, and their new black and yellow variant is yet to be replenished.
